As I mentioned in my article on Beck on Frontpage Friday, the left-dominated Israeli media has generally been abusive and defamatory toward Glenn Beck. Here an outstanding article by Dror Eydar (translated from the Hebrew original) in Israel Hayom, Israel's new, popular, right-leaning daily that swims against the tide, gives Beck the justice due him as a great, unique friend of Israel.
"Beck's rallies [in Israel]," Eydar writes,
were impressive, moving and authentic. Glenn Beck's consistent and strong support for Israel and the Jewish people is believable. His words ring of truth. In Beck's mind, Israel is on the front line of the entire West as it confronts radical Islam, which threatens to sweep away not just Europe but the entire world. Supporting Israel, which includes offering it constructive criticism, is the most noble and moral course of action that any reasonable, free-thinking person could take.
Yet here, the Left has turned its nose up in disgust as it does toward anyone who isn't its darling. Channel 2 continued its disgraceful indoctrination of viewers when it described Beck in unequivocal terms as "right-wing," "extremist" and a slew of other Stalinist epithets. Heaven forbid any of its viewers develop even a smattering of empathy toward Beck. You won't believe it, Channel 2 confided, "but peace is not a word he uses very often." What heresy! Orwell could not have said it better. Beck spoke about what many of us have long known, that "peace" has unfortunately lost its original meaning and now constitutes a starting-point for those who seek to destroy Israel.
