He's been watching the situation closely, and he says what's coming in September is that
Egypt will likely elect a radical and largely Islamist parliament. That parliament will then probably write a radical and largely Islamist constitution. The new government will follow a radical and at least partly Islamist policy. It will be Iran all over again.
Of course, Egypt is different. The problem will not be as large or intense as Iran. As the Shakespearean character Mercutio said when given a fatal wound: “No, ’tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide as a church-door; but ’tis enough; ’twill serve.”
Meanwhile Obama, as Rubin notes, still thinks what's happening there is the emergence of democracy.

The same people who used Facebook to organize the original Tahrir Square demonstrations also used Facebook to organize a violent anti-Israeli demonstration at the Israeli embassy in Cairo.
Looks bad.
