It's by Ted Koppel, reposted here from the Wall Street Journal. Talking with "senior Israeli officials," he describes them as worried sick over Obama's bumbling non-"policy" in the Middle East especially in these recent months. I feel the same way these "officials" do about Syria. I cannot get morally inspired by what's happening there, seeing no reason to expect that, even if the regime is toppled, something better will replace it. Yes, it would probably weaken Iran's axis, but not fatally. The Assads have been cruel and vicious but rational actors who've kept the Golan border quiet since 1973. That really counts for a lot, even if it's not precisely an expression of love.
