Fine piece by James Kirchik: how do we know there isn't a neocon-Likud or neocon-Israel collusion? Because Israelis know the neocons are morons when it comes to the Middle East. That's my own view and my own locution, but Kirchik, in much more detached fashion, well sketches the lines of disagreement. The neocons' springing to herald the "Arab spring" now supposedly sweeping the Arab world reveals real benightnedness about key cultural aspects of the region that most in Israel--including right, center, and even a few on the left--understand.
