Israeli NGO challenges Hillary

An outfit called the Office for Israeli Constitutional Law, an Israeli NGO, has written to Hillary asserting that her claims of the illegality of settlements are themselves illegal. They've cc'ed Bibi Netanyahu. Great credit goes to this organization. The U.S. hangup with "the settlements" is not only discriminatory but most of all, stupid--as if it isn't glaringly clear a hundred times over by now that the Palestinian/Arab/Muslim problem with Israel goes, however regrettably, way beyond "the settlements." I'm not into blaming Netanyahu for the freeze on construction in the settlements that he announced last week. All the harsh critics on the Israeli Right should first try being in his shoes--having to deal directly with Obama. Are Obama's demands and pressures on Netanyahu unfair, stupid, ignorant, and harmful? You bet. Obama's also the senior partner in this relationship. You can't just tell him to fly a kite. But private Israelis taking the fight straight to the secretary of state--now you're talking.
