Thanks for the comment to "Arens: Hang tough, Bibi"--and in reply: It's not a question of Netanyahu having spine and backbone; he has it. But he has very tough choices to make. Buckling to Obama entails dangers; standing up to him does, too. Israel is very much the junior partner in this relationship. Netanyahu, relatively speaking, is trying to make a stand on the settlements while having already made a big verbal concession on the Palestinian state. Netanyahu now has the toughest job in the world and has to choose between lesser evils.
Dear Mr. Hornik:
I am honored that you would respond to my question. But you must bear in mind that only Israel holds the moral high ground in the world today, IMHO. I do know many Americans who feel this way although they may not be consciously aware of it. Do not give up on us.
Our culture is all screwed up. Read Diane West, an American Jew, who wrote "The Death of the Grown-Up," which is a seminal work in cultural anaylsis. She understands the sick nature of our culture and how it got that way. I am almost 70 and can verify first hand that she is quite insightful.
Thank you.
